From October 26-27th, we had our very first convening of Radical Softness: Centering Our Girls Through Restorative Justice. Radical Softness was created to highlight the importance of restorative and transformative justice for our black and brown girls and non-binary youth. Our youth created a collage showcasing what was wanted in our schools - constantly encouraging our young people to be creative through art, fashion, poetry, and visuals. We also had a panel, comprised of and led by our youth. The panel focused on pushout, dress codes, sexual harassment, school safety/violence, and restorative justice. Finally, we ended Radical Softness with action-planning groups: Planning and Poster-making for the March to Black Women, Letter-Writing to the Superintendent, and Planning a Visit to the School Board.
